Billey's formula in combinatorics, geometry, and topology [PDF]
In this expository paper we describe a powerful combinatorial formula and its implications in geometry, topology, and algebra. This formula first appeared in the appendix of a book by Andersen, Jantzen, and Soergel.

A classification of spherical Schubert varieties in the Grassmannian
Let $L$ be a Levi subgroup of $GL_N$ which acts by left multiplication on a Schubert variety $X(w)$ in the Grassmannian $G_{d,N}$. We say that $X(w)$ is a spherical Schubert variety if $X(w)$ is a spherical variety for the action of $L$. In earlier work we provide a combinatorial description of the decomposition of the homogeneous coordinate ring of $X(

Ocean warming is driving the redistribution of species at a global scale. Biogeographic transition zones are hotspots of species range shifts, as both warm‐ and cold‐adapted species are found toward contrasting range edges. While anecdotal evidence suggests some distributional shifts have occurred in the northeast Atlantic, the empirical evidence base ...

Smooth locus of twisted affine Schubert varieties and twisted affine Demazure modules
Let ${\mathscr {G}} $ be a special parahoric group scheme of twisted type over the ring of formal power series over $\mathbb {C}$ , excluding the absolutely special case of $A^{(2)}_{2\ell }$ .

Degenerate Flag Varieties of Type A and C are Schubert Varieties [PDF]
We show that in type A or C any degenerate flag variety is in fact isomorphic to a Schubert variety in an appropriate partial flag manifold.

ABSTRACT Open space networks provide multiple ecosystem services and other benefits which are particularly important to urban regions. Accordingly, there are many examples around the world of urban‐regional open space policies such as regional parks and green belts that connect non‐built‐up areas over several municipalities. Yet it is still unclear how

Women with epilepsy: Evidence‐based counseling across the lifespan
Abstract Women with epilepsy (WWE) encounter distinct and evolving challenges across the lifespan that require clinical management extending beyond seizure control alone. Although awareness of sex‐specific aspects of epilepsy has increased, important gaps remain in their integration into routine care.

Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials and drift configurations [PDF]
The coefficients of the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials $P_{v,w}(q)$ are nonnegative integers that are upper semicontinuous on Bruhat order. Conjecturally, the same properties hold for $h$-polynomials $H_{v,w}(q)$ of local rings of Schubert varieties.

Adolescents' trajectories of mental health in the MYRIAD trial
Abstract Background This study explored adolescent's mental health trajectories over the course of a school‐based mindfulness‐based intervention trial (MYRIAD). It examined whether intervention condition (mindfulness vs. teaching‐as‐usual), individual‐level and contextual‐level factors were associated with different trajectories.
