Analysis of Thermal Dynamics of Floating Photovoltaic Systems

open access: yesSolar RRL, EarlyView.
A scalable methodology couples computational fluid dynamics‐derived wind decay functions with a dynamic heat transfer model to capture spatial temperature variations across large floating photovoltaic systems and is validated with data from the Netherlands floating photovoltaic systems (FPV) site.

Quantification of steroid hormones in free‐ranging Apennine wolf Canis lupus italicus hair samples collected post‐mortem

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
After decades of dramatic reductions in their populations, Italian wolves have begun recolonizing parts of their historic range. This growth in populations can lead to potential conflicts with human activities, which remain the main cause of wolf mortality.

Can biochar amendment alter the sorption of glyphosate in the Australian Vertosol soil system?

open access: yesSoil Security
Biochar has the potential to adsorb glyphosate, a potential groundwater pollutant in areas having indiscriminate use in farming activities. Batch sorption experiments were conducted at the University of Sydney, Australia.

Scintillation Counting of Carbon-14

open access: yesNature, 1960
Eng.). Nature 186, 613-14(1960) May 21. A precise method is described for the radioassay of carbon-14 in aqueous solutions. The method was developed for use in work on the decomposition in soil of plant material labeled with carbon-14 and is suitable for handling large numbers of samples with specific activities of 0.1 to 10 mu c.

Using programmable infusion pump in avian species – a validation methodology in geese

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Wildlife face anthropogenic and natural stressors that affect their physiology and behaviour. The activity of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis and glucocorticoid (GC) production is intrinsically linked with energy regulation and environmental stressors.

On New Alkaline Sulfatometallates: Cs6[(WO2)2O(SO4)4], K8[(MoO2)2(SO4)6], K7.9Sr0.1[(WO2)2(SO4)6] and Na4[MoO2(SO4)3]

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
Two new alkaline sulfatometallates show promising optical absorption, emission and even non‐linear optical properties together with an astonishingly high thermal stability. The new sulfatotungstate Cs6[(WO2)2O(SO4)4] exhibits a hitherto unknown anion with an unusual W–O–W angle of 180° and edge‐sharing WO6 and SO4 polyhedra.

Anomalous‐Energy Runaway Electrons Originating in Fast Ionisation Wave During Pulsed Gas Breakdown

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Anomalous‐energy runaway electrons (RAEs), whose energy exceeds the maximum potential difference across the discharge gap, are widely observed in various plasma phenomena. This study investigates the origination of anomalous‐energy RAEs in fast ionisation waves (FIWs) formed during pulsed gas breakdown.
