A PK/PD study on antihyperalgesia by an α2/3‐GABAA receptor PAM in mice: Lack of tolerance liability and potential involvement of γ1‐GABAA receptors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose GABAA receptors (GABAARs) are heteropentameric ion channels that control almost all CNS functions, including spinal nociception. Most GABAARs contain a γ2 subunit but differ in their α and β subunit composition. TPA023B is an α2/α3 subtype selective, non‐sedative, positive allosteric modulator (PAM) with antihyperalgesic

Low background scintillation counting.

open access: yesBioTechniques, 1990
Counting radioactive samples with Beckman Instrument's Ready Caps, using a restricted energy window, LL-UL = 400-1000, resulted in machine backgrounds of under 2 cpm and efficiencies of counting relative to liquid scintillation cocktails (LSC) of 51%, 65%, 57%, 62%, and 1% for 32P, 125I, 14C, 35S and 3H, respectively.

Matsupexole: A novel nonergot dopamine receptor agonist with sustained efficacy in a rat model of Parkinson's disease and limited off‐target activity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Dopamine receptor agonists, particularly targeting the dopamine D2L receptor (D2LR), have been used to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). However, valvular heart disease and somnolence, mainly caused by activating the serotonin 5‐HT2B receptor (5‐HT2BR) and dopamine D3 receptor (D3R), respectively, currently challenge their clinical

‘I like to dance with the flowers!’: Exploring the possibilities for biodiverse futures in an urban forest school

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
Abstract This article explores the ways in which ‘forest school’, an educational approach where children engage in creative and play based activities in a ‘natural’ environment, can contribute towards Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15) by promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and by helping address biodiversity loss. Drawing on data

Methodological Applicability of Ultra-Low Background Liquid Scintillation Counters in Low-Level Tritium Measurement

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Tritium (3H) is a low-energy β emitter commonly found in environmental water samples, and its routine monitoring requires highly sensitive techniques capable of achieving low detection limits.

Facilitated Transport of Organic Contaminants in a High Concentration, Multicomponent Plume

open access: yesGroundwater Monitoring &Remediation, EarlyView.
Abstract A field experiment evaluated the transport of organic contaminants in a plume from hazardous waste disposal areas at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. The plume contained many xenobiotic contaminants, with widely varying expected mobilities.
