Objective assessment of acute pain in foals using a facial expression‐based pain scale

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 57, Issue 6, Page 1520-1530, November 2025.
Abstract Background Pain assessment based on facial expressions has been described in foals. Objectives To extend previous pilot findings of the Equine Utrecht University Scale for Facial Assessment of Pain in Foals (EQUUS‐FAP FOAL). Study design Prospective blinded case–control study (known groups analysis).

Looking at Burning Mouth Syndrome Brain: The Prevalence of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Radiologic Signs in BMS Patients

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, Volume 52, Issue 11, Page 2095-2101, November 2025.
Prevalence of radiologic signs of idiopathic intracranial hypertension in burning mouth syndrome patients. ABSTRACT Background Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), a disorder characterised by an elevation of intracranial pressure, has implications in chronic pain syndromes, especially in the cranial territory, and has been a matter of discussion.

Treatment With Remdesivir Alone or in Combination With GS‐441524 in Cats With Ocular Involvement of Feline Infectious Peritonitis: An Observational Case Series

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Remdesivir and GS‐441524 have successfully treated cats with feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) but the changes in associated signs of ocular disease are not reported. Objective Evaluate the response of FIP‐associated signs of ocular disease before and after treatment with remdesivir, GS‐441524, or both.

Pigment Epithelium‐Derived Factor (PEDF)‐Based Therapy Induced Photoreceptor Survival by Stabilizing Choroidal Neovessels in a VEGF Overexpression CNV Rat Model

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 19, 15 October 2025.
Stabilizing choroidal neovessels offers a novel treatment‐option for pathological CNV. Pigment epithelium‐derived factor (PEDF), a multifunctional protein with vessel‐stabilizing properties, is a promising candidate for this approach. Its efficacy with and without bevacizumab was tested in a VEGF overexpression CNV rat model.

Refractive Index‐Corrected Light‐Sheet Microscopy for Macro‐View Cardiovascular Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 38, October 13, 2025.
A refractive index‐corrected light‐sheet fluorescence microscopy system enables macro‐view cardiovascular imaging across organs, adapting to refractive index variations from different optical clearing protocols. By integrating axial sweeping, multi‐view imaging, and a sealed chamber, it extends the field of view, enhances isotropy, and improves safety.
