The role of transient plasma photonic structures in plasma-based amplifiers

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2023
High power short pulse lasers are technologically reaching a limit in term of amplification due to the material damage threshold of amplifying media. The authors conduct experiments and numerical simulations to show the possibility of benefiting from ...

The McCance Brain Care Score and Mortality: Evidence From a Large‐Scale Population‐Based Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study aimed to examine the relationship between the McCance Brain Care Score (BCS) and mortality in the general population. Methods We conducted a prospective, population‐based cohort study using data from the UK Biobank. Participants with complete data enabling calculation of BCS and full mortality information were included ...

Using drifting passive echolocation loggers to study harbour porpoises in tidal-stream habitats

open access: yesEndangered Species Research, 2013
Moored passive acoustic detectors (e.g. C-PODs) are widely used to study harbour porpoise Phocoena phocoena distribution and relative abundance, but their use in tidal-stream habitats is complicated by the need for retrievable flow-resistant seabed ...

Quantum Emitters in Hexagonal Boron Nitride: Principles, Engineering and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum emitters in hexagonal boron nitride have emerged as a promising candidate for quantum information science. This review examines the fundamentals of these quantum emitters, including their level structures, defect engineering, and their possible chemical structures.

Brownian Motion

open access: yesGauge Integral Structures for Stochastic Calculus and Quantum Electrodynamics, 2006
This paper seeks to study standard Brownian motion and some of its properties. We construct this stochastic process and demonstrate a few properties including continuity and non-differentiability.

Clean‐Limit 2D Superconductivity in a Thick Exfoliated Kagome Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports clean‐limit 2D superconductivity in a thick kagome system, analogous to the 3D case. It observes a drop in superfluid stiffness near the superconducting transition and a cusp‐like feature in the angular dependence of the upper critical field.
