Unveiling the unseen: the challenge of phenomenological conceptual untranslatables

open access: yesСлово.ру: балтийский акцент
This article aims to explore the significant challenges posed by phenomenological untranslatables while also emphasizing their role as cultural phenomena. Phenomenological untranslatables are typically associated with a specific cultural, historical, or

Texture for script identification [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2005
The problem of determining the script and language of a document image has a number of important applications in the field of document analysis, such as indexing and sorting of large collections of such images, or as a precursor to optical character recognition (OCR). In this paper, we investigate the use of texture as a tool for determining the script

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Deep Learning Approaches for Nusantara Scripts Optical Character Recognition

open access: yesIJCCS (Indonesian Journal of Computing and Cybernetics Systems), 2023
The number of speakers of regional languages who are able to read and to write traditional scripts in Indonesia is decreasing. If left unaddressed, this will lead to the extinction of Nusantara scripts and it is not impossible that their reading methods ...

Script Templates [PDF]

open access: yesTopics in Language Disorders, 2016
Purpose: Script training for aphasia involves repeated practice of relevant phrases and sentences that, when mastered, can potentially be used in other communicative situations. Although an increasingly popular approach, script development can be time-consuming.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Flipping the script

open access: yesInformation Services and Use, 2018
The global Open Access movement has undertaken a proposal to ‘flip’ from the traditional subscription model to an open access model. With so many stakeholders involved, such a transition must appeal to the interests of researchers, librarians, funders, and publishers.
