Scuffing as a random phenomenon
1993A model of scuffing phenomenon in lubricated contacts is presented in terms of a random process. Visual Observation of the Process of Scuffing
1995A visual study has been made of the process of scuffing between a lubricated steel ball and a sapphire flat. This has shown that the onset of scuffing is always preceded by the build-up of fine particles of wear debris in the contact inlet which result in starvation and consequently scuffing.
