Biotrophic Interactions Between a Mycoparasitic Ampelomyces Fungus and Podosphaera xanthii on Fungicide‐Treated Melon Leaves

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
The digital micrographs show images of the infection progress by the mycoparasitic Ampelomyces strain in a melon powdery mildew fungus Podosphaera xanthii that was treated with kresoxim‐methyl and sprayed with Ampelomyces spores under the high‐humidity conditions of a growth chamber.

A Melanin-Deficient Isolate of Venturia inaequalis Reveals Various Roles of Melanin in Pathogen Life Cycle and Fitness

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2022
Venturia inaequalis is the ascomycetous pathogen causing apple scabs and forms dark-pigmented spores and partially melanised infection structures. Although melanin is considered to be essential for the infection of host tissue, a spontaneously occurring ...

Strengths and Limitations of Statistical and Dynamical Downscaling for the Representation of Compound Dry and Hot Events Over Spain

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 2, February 2026.
Statistical and dynamical downscaling methods are tested for their reproduction of compound dry‐hot events, using three representatives of each category. Statistical methods are found to better detect when they are produced, whereas dynamical downscaling better simulates their distribution over the whole period.

Quantitative Resistance to Quinone Outside Inhibitor (QoI) Fungicides in Puccinia horiana Through the Combination of Seven Distinct Substitutions in Cytochrome b

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Puccinia horiana, the causal agent of chrysanthemum white rust, has developed quantitative resistance to QoI fungicides through one to four substitutions, selected from F90I, N256S, Y257N, L275F, F278L, M295V or L299F in cytochrome b (Cytb). ABSTRACT Quinone outside inhibitors (QoIs) are a major class of agricultural fungicides.

Changes and Dependencies of Compound Hot–Dry Extremes in China During 1961–2022

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Compound hot–dry extremes have attracted widespread attention owing to their disastrous impacts on human society and natural ecosystems. Based on the daily maximum temperature and precipitation observations, the spatiotemporal distribution and long‐term variations of summer compound hot–dry days (CHDDs) and compound hot–dry events (CHDEs), as well as ...
