Consumer Preferences for Craft Beer: The Interplay of Localness and Advertising Language

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores the influence of the language of the label, origin of production, and origin of brewing ingredients on Croatian consumers' preferences and willingness to pay for organic craft beer. Employing an online survey and a choice experiment among 223 Croatian alcohol consumers, we find that while there's a willingness to pay a ...

Coast–Ship Bistatic HF Surface Wave Radar: Simulation Analysis and Experimental Verification

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
The coast−ship bistatic high-frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) not only has the anti-interference advantages of the coast-based bistatic HFSWR, but also has the advantages of maneuverability and an extended detection area of the shipborne HFSWR.

Detection of Mines in Acoustic Images using Higher Order Spectral Features [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A new pattern-recognition algorithm detects approximately 90% of the mines hidden in the Coastal Systems Station Sonar0, 1, and 3 databases of cluttered acoustic images, with about 10% false alarms.

Computer Vision Pipeline for Image Analysis for Freeze‐Fracture Electron Microscopy: Rosette Cellulose Synthase Complexes Case

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This paper presents a computer vision (deep learning) pipeline integrating YOLOv8 and YOLOv9 for automated detection, segmentation, and analysis of rosette cellulose synthase complexes in freeze‐fracture electron microscopy images. The study explores curated dataset expansion for model improvement and highlights pipeline accuracy, speed ...

Rapid Simulation of Temporal-Spatial Correlated 3D Sea Clutter

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2019
Due to the difficulties in actual measurement of sea clutter and uncertainties of experimental data, the electromagnetic (EM) scattering model becomes a better alternative means to acquire the sea clutter. However, the EM scattering model still faces the

Characterizing Evaporation Ducts Within the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer Using Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2019
We apply a multilayer perceptron machine learning (ML) regression approach to infer electromagnetic (EM) duct heights within the marine atmospheric boundary layer (MABL) using sparsely sampled EM propagation data obtained within a bistatic context.

Real‐Time Multicolor Fluorescence Microscopy via Cross‐Channel Acquisition and Deep‐Learning‐Based Inference

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Sequential multicolor fluorescence imaging in dynamic microsystems is constrained by acquisition speed and excitation dose. This study introduces a real‐time framework to reconstruct spectrally separated channels from reduced cross‐channel acquisitions (frames containing mixed spectral contributions).

Remote sensing of earth terrain [PDF]

open access: yes
A mathematically rigorous and fully polarimetric radar clutter model used to evaluate the radar backscatter from various types of terrain clutter such as forested areas, vegetation canopies, snow covered terrains, or ice fields is presented.

Simulation of coherent sea clutter

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2010
This study provides a brief overview of methods used to simulate sea clutter. It then offers a simple and flexible way of generating non-stationary coherent sea clutter that matches higher order statistics of real clutter in the time domain, as well as the shape and intensity distribution within the Doppler domain.
