Sea-ice evaluation of NEMO-Nordic 1.0: a NEMO–LIM3.6-based ocean–sea-ice model setup for the North Sea and Baltic Sea [PDF]
The Baltic Sea is a seasonally ice-covered marginal sea in northern Europe with intense wintertime ship traffic and a sensitive ecosystem. Understanding and modeling the evolution of the sea-ice pack is important for climate effect studies and ...

Ecosystem model intercomparison of under-ice and total primary production in the Arctic Ocean [PDF]
Previous observational studies have found increasing primary production (PP) in response to declining sea ice cover in the Arctic Ocean. In this study, under-ice PP was assessed based on three coupled ice-ocean-ecosystem models participating in the Forum

A New Perspective on Four Decades of Changes in Arctic Sea Ice from Satellite Observations
Arctic sea ice characteristics have been changing rapidly and significantly in the last few decades. Using a long-term time series of sea ice products from satellite observations—the extended AVHRR Polar Pathfinder (APP-x)—trends in sea ice concentration,

EOF analysis of three records of sea-ice concentration spanning the last 30 years [PDF]
Several continuous observational datasets of Artic sea-ice concentration are currently available that cover the period since the advent of routine satellite observations. We report on a comparison of three sea-ice concentration datasets.

18O Concentrations In Sea Ice Of The Weddell Sea, Antarctica [PDF]
AbstractWe present data on ice texture, salinity, and δ18O obtained from identical sections of ice cores during the Winter Weddell Sea Project 1986 on RV Polarstern from July through August 1986, in the longitude range between 5°W. and 7°E. We find no uniquely definable relationship between δ18O values and ice texture in a particular section.

Assessment of Antarctic Sea Ice Cover in CMIP6 Prediction with Comparison to AMSR2 during 2015–2021
A comprehensive assessment of Antarctic sea ice cover prediction is conducted for twelve CMIP6 models under the scenario of SSP2-4.5, with a comparison to the observed data from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2) during 2015–2021.

Holocene carbon-cycle dynamics based on CO2 trapped in ice at Taylor Dome, Antarctica [PDF]
A high-resolution ice-core record of atmospheric CO2 concentration over the Holocene epoch shows that the global carbon cycle has not been in steady state during the past 11,000 years.

Evaluation of the ArcIOPS sea ice forecasts during 2021–2023
The operational sea ice forecasts from the Arctic Ice Ocean Prediction System (ArcIOPS) during 2021–2023 are validated against satellite-retrieved sea ice concentration and drift data, in situ and reanalyzed sea ice thickness data.
