Spatio-Temporal Distribution of Sardinops sagax in the North Pacific: Optimal Environmental Characteristics

open access: yesProgress in Fishery Sciences, 2023
Sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll concentration in the North Pacific in 2019–2020 were analyzed based on the data of light net fertilization fisheries, including chlorophyll-a, sea surface height (SSH), and data regarding other environmental ...

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights From a Large International Sicca Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0–4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0–3) as predictors of DED signs (abnormal ocular ...

Impacts of Extreme Weather on Sea Surface Temperature in the Western Waters of Sumatera and the Southern Waters of Java in June 2016

open access: yesForum Geografi, 2017
Ocean dynamics is affected by atmospheric conditions. Surface wind is one of atmospheric variables that has an important role in the ocean dynamics.

Closure of the Sea Surface Height Budget with a Stokes Offset

open access: yesJournal of Physical Oceanography
Abstract The sea surface height budget, obtained by integrating hydrostatic balance over the water column, relates sea surface height variations to variations of the seafloor pressure, density in the water column, and atmospheric surface pressure. This budget is crucial for calibrating and interpreting satellite altimetry measurements.

Pain and Patient‐Reported Physical Function Did Not Differ Among Body Composition Profiles in Patients With Hip Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To explore whether higher body fat and lower lean mass are associated with greater pain and worse patient‐reported physical function in individuals with hip osteoarthritis (OA). A secondary aim was to examine whether pain and patient‐reported physical function differ according to four body composition profiles: high body fat, low lean mass ...

Airborne measurement of absolute sea‐surface heights

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1993
Topographic profiles may be measured from an aircraft by differencing precise radar or laser altitudes with ellipsoidal heights obtained by means of kinematic interferometric‐mode GPS. Over the ocean, the difference between the two altitudes is the geoid height plus dynamic oceanographic effects such as tides, currents, eddies, etc.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...
