Effect of criteria on seakeeping performance assessment

Ocean Engineering, 2005
The overall performance of ships depends on the seakeeping performance in specified sea areas where the vessel is designed to operate. The seakeeping performance procedure is based upon the probability of exceeding specified ship motions in a sea environment particular to the vessel's mission. Given the operational area of the vessel, the percentage of

Seakeeping performance of fishing vessels in irregular waves

Ocean Engineering, 2011
A study of the seakeeping performance of a set of fishing vessels is carried out aiming to identify the seakeeping criteria, and vessel conditions that limit the operability of the fishing vessels in certain sea states. Ship motions and derived responses are obtained in fully developed sea states using the transfer functions of the hull forms.

Modeling the seakeeping performance of luxury cruise ships

Journal of Marine Science and Application, 2010
The seakeeping performance of a luxury cruise ship was evaluated during the concept design phase. By comparing numerical predictions based on 3-D linear potential flow theory in the frequency domain with the results of model tests, it was shown that the 3-D method predicted the seakeeping performance of the luxury cruise ship well.

Added resistance and seakeeping performance of trimarans in oblique waves [PDF]

open access: yesOcean Engineering, 2020
Trimaran added resistance and seakeeping performance in oblique waves with strong nonlinearity are rarely investigated. This paper presents the numerical investigations on them by applying a hybrid method, called the QaleFOAM.

Seakeeping Performance of a New Coastal Patrol Ship for the Croatian Navy

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
This paper presents seakeeping test results for a coastal patrol ship (CPS) in the Croatian Navy (CN). The full-scale tests were conducted on a CPS prototype that was accepted by the CN.

Operability robustness index as seakeeping performance criterion for offshore vessels [PDF]

open access: yesOcean Engineering, 2020
The offshore industry operates increasingly large installations in exposed areas requiring high reliability and availability. Downtime of complex offshore systems leads to significant financial losses.

SEAKEEPING PERFORMANCE COMPARISON OF AIR CAPABLE SHIPS

Naval Engineers Journal, 1982
ABSTRACTThe on‐going debate regarding the merits of large versus small aircraft carriers raises several issues concerning the ability of various ship configurations to support sea based air operations. One such issue is the question of the relative seakeeping performance of ship alternatives. In an effort to shed some light on the matter, a comparative

Study on the characteristics of trimaran seakeeping performance at various speeds

Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, 2021
Based on open-source CFD tool OpenFOAM and the hybrid-method solver qaleFoam, the numerical study about the effect of sailing speed on the motion of trimaran in waves of various headings is carried out. The wave heading ranges from head waves to stern waves, and three sailing speed of trimaran are chosen for simulation.
