An Approach to Seam Strength Prediction Using Residual Thread Strength

Research Journal of Textile and Apparel, 2011
Owing to a high amount of stress, seam failure in workwear fabrics makes the fabric unsuitable although the fabric strength is high. It is therefore important to predict the seam strength to ascertain the performance of the garments during use and determine the required thread strength and stitch density to match the required seam strength.

Analysis of lockstitch seam strength and its efficiency

International Journal of Clothing Science and Technology, 2016
Purpose – Seam efficiency plays an important role for obtaining a desired seam quality. Therefore, this issue is often referred in research papers. The purpose of this paper is to determine the seam strength and efficiency as well as examining, if and how such factors as: a kind of fabric, kind of thread, kind of seam ...

The SEAM Barrett model: Strengths and weaknesses

Geophysics, 2021
ABSTRACT The SEG Advanced Modeling (SEAM) Barrett model was designed to model typical land basins found in the North American midcontinent that host unconventional reservoirs, such as fractured shale reservoirs. This model was used recently in several studies to assess whether shale bodies could be resolved using azimuthal 3D P-P ...

Impact of stitch density on seam strength, seam elongation, and seam efficiency

International Journal of Consumer Studies, 2005
AbstractThe study investigated seam efficiency, seam strength and seam elongation of three stitch densities for a premium muslin. The tensile and seam strength were tested on INSTRON. Seam efficiency was calculated in percentages and t‐test and Analysis of Variance (anova) were used to test the hypotheses.

Stresses in Clothing as Related to Seam Strength

Textile Research Journal, 1986
This paper summarizes work done to determine the minimum seam strengths re quired for clothing, in particular, Canadian Forces (CF) combat clothing, and to re- validate a recommended 80% seam efficiency. It describes a method to determine where maximum stresses occur in clothing, the locations of these stresses in wear, and the stances that cause ...
