A search-theoretic monetary business cycle model with capital formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Search-theory has become the main paradigm for the micro-foundation of money. But no comprehensive business cycle analysis has been undertaken yet with a search-based monetary model.

A discrete theory of search. I [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
summary:In this paper an introduction to the theory of search, as developed in the previous papers of A. Rényi and the author, is given. Basic results of those papers are unified and summarized from a Bayesian point of view which is accepted throughout ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Problemistic Search and International Entrepreneurship [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper explains the internationalization process of small firms using the theory of performance relative to aspiration levels. The study complements prior theory by explaining why and how small firms are triggered to engage in internationalization ...

Exploratory Patent Search with Faceted Search and Configurable Entity Mining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Searching for patents is usually a recall-oriented problem and depending on the patent search type, quite often a problem which is characterized by uncertainty and evolution or change of the information need. We propose an exploratory strategy for patent

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Ordered Search in Differentiated Markets [PDF]

open access: yes
This note presents an ordered search model in which consumers search both for price and product fitness. We construct an equilibrium in which there is price dispersion and prices rise in the order of search.

Improving Exploratory Search Interfaces: Adding Value or Information Overload?

open access: yes, 2008
One method for supporting more exploratory forms of search has been to include a compound of new interface features, such as facets, previews, collection points, synchronous communication, and note-taking spaces, within a single search interface.

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.
