Hereditary trichilemmal cysts: a proposal for the assessment of diagnostic clinical criteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Trichilemmal cysts (TCs) can occur as sporadic lesions or in hereditary-familial settings with autosomal dominant transmission. These entities have not been widely analyzed in their peculiar aspects yet.

Ammonia Detoxification Inhibits Liver Metastasis by Reshaping Hepatic Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liver metastasis diverts aspartate into hyperactive pyrimidine synthesis, disrupting urea cycling and causing pathogenic ammonia accumulation. Ammonia dually reprograms the microenvironment by: (1) activating hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) into pro‐fibrotic metastasis‐associated fibroblasts (MAFs), and (2) suppressing anti‐tumor monocytes/macrophages ...

In Vivo CRISPR Screening Identifies the Glutamate Receptor GRIA2 as Promoting Peritoneal Metastasis of Gastric Cancer via Calcium‐Dependent β‐Catenin Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified GRIA2 as a critical driver of gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis through in vivo CRISPR screening. Mechanistically, GRIA2‐mediated calcium influx inhibits GSK3β and activates Wnt/β‐catenin signaling, driven by glutamate from cancer‐associated fibroblasts.

Role of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology in Salivary Gland Pathology and its Histopathological Correlation: A Two Year Prospective Study in Western India. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background and objectives: Salivary gland lesions account for 2-6.5% of all the neoplasms of the head and neck. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is being increasingly used in the diagnosis of salivary gland lesions.

Crescentic flap for the reconstruction of the nose after skin cancer resection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose Non-melanoma skin cancers are the most frequent skin tumours; in 25.5% of cases, they are reported to affect the nasal area. For an excellent surgical outcome, first of all the radical excision of the lesion is important, with appropriate margins

Sustainable Phosphorylated Cellulose Nanocrystals: A Dual‐Affinity Platform for High‐Efficiency Enrichment of Intact Glycopeptides and Phosphopeptides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
AAA ABSTRACT Protein glycosylation and phosphorylation are critical post‐translational modifications (PTMs) governing nearly all cellular functions, yet their analysis remains challenging due to reliance on costly and unsustainable enrichment materials.

Sebomic identification of sex- and ethnicity-specific variations in residual skin surface components (RSSC) for bio-monitoring or forensic applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: “Residual skin surface components” (RSSC) is the collective term used for the superficial layer of sebum, residue of sweat, small quantities of intercellular lipids and components of natural moisturising factor present on the skin surface ...

A Soft Matrix Microenvironment Promotes Laterally Spreading Tumors via Oxidative Phosphorylation‐Dependent Cell Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) are precancerous colorectal lesions characterized by a flat morphology. This study reveals a mechanochemical pathway through which a soft matrix microenvironment diminishes spatial constraints in intestinal adenomas. This process promotes deficiencies in tight junction proteins, mediated by the mechanoreceptor ADORA2B ...

Sebaceous Carcinoma – Unexpected Tumor of the Nasal Ala Dorsum

open access: yesActa Medica Bulgarica, 2019
Today, the extraocular variant of sebaceous carcinoma is still being poorly recognized. This type of carcinoma is rarely diagnosed correctly, which, together with its aggressive behavior, contributes to its poor prognosis. We present a case of an 84-year-

Cutaneous horns: are these lesions as innocent as they seem to be? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Background Cutaneous horns (cornu cutaneum) are uncommon lesions consisting of keratotic material resembling that of an animal horn. Cutaneous horn may arise from a wide range of the epidermal lesions, which may be benign, premalignant or malignant ...
