Merging of optoelectronic techniques for microwave signal generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes some recent evolutions about optical generation of microwave signals. Among these, multiloop ring oscillator and harmonic generation allow both rise in frequency and wide tunability. Besides, using microresonators and optical sources

Multipolar second harmonic generation in a symmetric nonlinear metamaterial

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Optical nonlinearities are intimately related to the spatial symmetry of the nonlinear media. For example, the second order susceptibility vanishes for centrosymmetric materials under the dipole approximation.

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Experimentation of Entangled photon-pairs generation using an ultrafast source at gigahertz [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this dissertation we will present the experimental study of polarization entangled photon pairs generation, through spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) using an ultrafast source at gigahertz.

Immunosuppressive Drug Use in Limited Systemic Sclerosis: An International Survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Current guidelines recommend immunosuppressive treatment for diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis but are less clear on their use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) in the absence of internal organ complications. We conducted an international survey to understand current immunosuppressive drug prescribing patterns in lcSSc ...

Electric Field Effect on Optical Second-harmonic Generation of Amphoteric Megamolecule Aggregates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We have detected second-order nonlinear optical response from an amphoteric mega-saccharides named sacran undera needle/ring electrode stimulus by using an optical second harmonic generation (SHG) microscope.

Second-harmonic generation within a random fiber laser

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
Optical fibers offer convenient access to a variety of nonlinear phenomena. However, due to their inversion symmetry, second-order nonlinear effects, such as second-harmonic generation (SHG), are challenging to achieve.

Second-harmonic generation in GaS crystals

open access: yesSolid State Communications, 1997
Abstract Second-harmonic generation in the layered semiconductor GaS excited with the wavelength λ = 1579 nm is investigated with the Maker fringe technique. It is shown that the second-harmonic signal originates from domains in the crystal, which consist of the noncentrosymmetric C53v polytype.

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Infrared-Based Third and Second Harmonic Generation Imaging of Cornea

open access: yes, 2011
The cornea functions as an optical lens and plays an important role in vision. For corneal diagnosis and treatment such as refractive surgery, a microscopic imaging system with a 3-D cellular resolution and retinal safety is strongly desired.
