Augmented human intelligence goes beyond the AGI mirage

open access: yesDiscover Artificial Intelligence
This paper argues that contemporary Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) approaches face significant challenges that make Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI) a more promising and practically beneficial alternative.

SECOND-ORDER INVARIANTS AND HOLOGRAPHY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics D, 2012
Motivated by recent works on the role of the holographic principle in cosmology, we relate a class of second-order Ricci invariants to the IR cutoff characterizing the holographic dark energy density. The choice of second-order invariants provides an invariant way to account the problem of causality for the correct cosmological cutoff, since the ...

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Structure Theory for Second Order 2D Superintegrable Systems with 1-Parameter Potentials

open access: yes, 2009
The structure theory for the quadratic algebra generated by first and second order constants of the motion for 2D second order superintegrable systems with nondegenerate (3-parameter) and or 2-parameter potentials is well understood, but the results for ...

Stochastic programming with multivariate second order stochastic dominance constraints with applications in portfolio optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we study optimization problems with multivariate stochastic dominance constraints where the underlying functions are not necessarily linear. These problems are important in multicriterion decision making, since each component of vectors can

A second order cell method for Poisson's equation

open access: yes, 2010
The Cell Method, similar to the Finite Integration Technique, is a well-established numerical method for the solution of field problems, however an often raised criticism is that it is limited to constant fields within elements.

New Horizons for Second-Order Cybernetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Open peer commentary on the article “Design Research as a Variety of Second-Order Cybernetic Practice” by Ben Sweeting. Upshot: This commentary supports Sweeting’s case for the relationship between the design tradition, second-order cybernetics and ...

An Oscillation Test for Solutions of Second-Order Neutral Differential Equations of Mixed Type

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
It is easy to notice the great recent development in the oscillation theory of neutral differential equations. The primary aim of this work is to extend this development to neutral differential equations of mixed type (including both delay and advanced ...
