On generalized derivatives for C1,1 vector optimization problems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2003
We introduce generalized definitions of Peano and Riemann directional derivatives in order to obtain second-order optimality conditions for vector optimization problems involving C1,1 data.

A Full Rank Condition for Continuous-Time Optimization Problems with Equality and Inequality Constraints

open access: yesTrends in Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2019
First and second order necessary optimality conditions of Karush-Kuhn-Tucker type are established for continuous-time optimization problems with equality and inequality constraints.

On a Class of Isoperimetric Constrained Controlled Optimization Problems

open access: yesAxioms, 2021
In this paper, we investigate the Lagrange dynamics generated by a class of isoperimetric constrained controlled optimization problems involving second-order partial derivatives and boundary conditions.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

On a Conjecture in Second-Order Optimality Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2018
In this paper we deal with optimality conditions that can be verified by a nonlinear optimization algorithm, where only a single Lagrange multiplier is avaliable. In particular, we deal with a conjecture formulated in [R. Andreani, J.M. Martinez, M.L.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Optimality Conditions for the Second-Order Semilinear Differential Inclusions of the Bolza Problem

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences and Modelling
In this paper, optimality conditions for the Bolza problem with second-order semilinear differential inclusions (SDFIs) and initial conditions are derived.

Second-order lower radial tangent derivatives and applications to set-valued optimization

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
We introduce the concepts of second-order radial composed tangent derivative, second-order radial tangent derivative, second-order lower radial composed tangent derivative, and second-order lower radial tangent derivative for set-valued maps by means of ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
