Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Distribution in Gaul of amphorae produced in Fondi / Southern Latium in the Second Iron Age

open access: yes, 2023
In the Fondi plain on the tyrrhenian coast of Italy, a series of amphora production sites have been discovered in the 1970s and sherds collected in a land survey (Hesnard et al. 1989). As some of the stamps on sherds among the Fondi production were identical to those on amphorae found in the shipwreck La Madrague de Giens off the French Mediterranean ...

Plaza de Moros (Villatobas, Toledo) and the hillforts of the second Iron Age in the middle Tajo basin

open access: yesTrabajos de Prehistoria, 2004
The excavations of the last five years in the hillfort of Plaza de Moros are producing interesting information on the Second Iron Age settlement systems in the Middle Tajo Basin. We are beginning to know aspects of the carpetanian settlements in the the Centre of the Peninsula, such as the defensive systems of its settlements and its characteristic ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Sur le passage de l'Âge du Bronze à l'Âge du Fer dans le Massif jurassien : état de la question et perspectives. En complément à une ancienne datation d'un tumulus de Dompierre-les-Tilleuls

open access: yesDialogues d'Histoire Ancienne, 2001
• This article has two main parts. The first presents a new calibration of a 14 С datation from a Dompierre-les-Tilleuls (Doubs) barrow. This datation, 797 B.C., can be used to reexamine the chronology of Hallstatt С in Jura, Eastern France, Switzerland ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

The Complexity and Fragility of Early Iron Age Urbanism in West-Central Temperate Europe

open access: yes, 2017
The development of large agglomerations is one of the most important phenomena in later Eurasian prehistory. In west-central temperate Europe, the origins of urbanism have long been associated with the oppida of the second to first centuries BC. However,

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.
