Defining Second-Order Desert [PDF]

open access: yesOrganon F
Philosophers who work on desert-adjustment within axiology often articulate the concept of desert as follows: x deserves y on the basis of z. This formulation allows for a focused examination that encompasses deservers, deservings, and desert bases.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Second-Order Management – How Second-Order Concepts Contribute to Solutions within Complex Environments [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2020
In our daily practice as management consultants we observe disorientation, misconceptions, and open questions about the suitability, limitations, and/or benefits of novel management approaches.

Second-Order Networks in PyTorch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Classification of Symmetric Positive Definite (SPD) matrices is gaining momentum in a variety machine learning application fields. In this work we propose a Python library which implements neural networks on SPD matrices, based on the popular deep learning framework Pytorch.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Oscillation criteria for second-order neutral differential equations with distributed deviating arguments

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
Using a class of test functions $Phi(t,s,T)$ defined by Sun [13] and a generalized Riccati technique, we establish some new oscillation criteria for the second-order neutral differential equation with distributed deviating argument $$ (r(t)psi(x(t))Z'(t))

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Int. Sig. Proc. Workshop on Higher Order Statistics, Chamrouse, France, July 1991.

open access: yes, 2007
Direction finding techniques are usually based on the 2ndorder statistics of the received data. In this paper, we propose a MUSIC-like direction finding algorithm which uses a matrix-valued statistic based on the contraction of the 4thorder cumulant ...
