Determining optimal neutral reactor to limit overvoltages and duration of secondary arc of transmission lines

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2023
Even though shunt compensation of transmission lines (TLs) is a common practice to limit the overvoltages stemming from the Ferranti effect, it may cause transient and steady‐state resonant overvoltages when one phase is left open due to the single‐pole ...

Influence of Structural Parameters of Arc GrooveK-wire on Bone Drilling

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2020
In orthopaedic surgery, bone drilling over 55 C will lead to bone tissue necrosis and even oxidation, affecting the effect of surgery. The drilling temperature can be effectively reduced by designing micro-structures such as chip grooves on the tip surface.

Performance analysis of a low-power-consumption electric arc welding machine constructed using cost effective materials [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2023
Electric arc welding is a widely used fusion welding method. Electric power is supplied to the primary winding of the transformer as the input, and due to induction, it is transferred to the secondary winding from which it will be utilized for welding.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Influence of Different Compensation Modes on Morphological and Electrical Characteristics of Secondary Arcs

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
UHV transmission lines are usually equipped with high-voltage shunt reactors. These reactors and the resulting degree of compensation affect the voltage, current, and other electrical characteristics of secondary arcs.

The seismotectonic regime in Greece

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1967
Evidence is presented which favours the theory that the<br />earthquake activity in the area of Greece should bo ascribed to horizontal currents flowing off to the side of the secondary sedimentary arc, from a minor mantle current rising under the ...

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...
