The immunosenescence-related factor DOCK11 is involved in secondary immune responses of B cells

open access: yesImmunity & Ageing, 2022
Background Memory B cells are an antigen-experienced B-cell population with the ability to rapidly differentiate into antibody-producing cells by recall responses.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Secondary signet ring cell carcinoma of prostate

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Surgery, 2012
True metastases to prostate from solid tumors are reported only in 0.2% of all surgical prostatic specimens and 2.9% of all male postmortems. Clinical context, morphological features, and immunohistochemical localization of prostate specific antigen (PSA) are supposed to clarify the differential diagnosis between a secondary and a primary tumor.

Optimal control strategy of load aggregators with demand response

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
This study presents an optimal control strategy for a load aggregator (LA) with demand response. The LA can provide consumers with time-of-use electricity price which could be different with the selling price of electricity by power grid.

Antigen-Specific CD4+ T Cells Exhibit Distinct Kinetic and Phenotypic Patterns During Primary and Secondary Responses to Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
Although CD4+ T cell memory is a critical component of adaptive immunity, antigen-specific CD4+ T cell recall responses to secondary infection have been inadequately studied.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Optimal sizing and location of vanadium redox flow battery in a power system with high wind power generation

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This paper proposes a new approach to determine the optimal sizing and location of a vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) that provides load frequency control services in a power system, with the lowest cost for the utility grid.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Increased efficiencies on CdTe solar cells via luminescence down-shifting with excitation energy transfer between dyes

open access: yes, 2012
The external quantum efficiencies of CdTe solar cells fabricated by the atmospheric pressure metal organic chemical vapour deposition (AP–MOCVD) method have been measured with one and two dye doped luminescence down-shifting (LDS) layers on top ...
