Distributed control strategy of hybrid energy storage system in the DC microgrid

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In a DC microgrid, because the output of renewable energy such as photovoltaic is intermittent, hybrid energy storage system (HESS) combining ultracapacitors and batteries is usually used to solve this issue.

NK Cells Contribute to Protective Memory T Cell Mediated Immunity to Chlamydia muridarum Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2020
We previously reported that NK cells can promote type 1 T cell immune response that is essential for protection to a primary infection of Chlamydia muridarum.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Structure and biosynthesis of fungal secondary metabolites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The root rot pathogen Heterobasidion annosum s.l., i.e. H. abietinum, H. parviporum, H. annosum s.s., H. irregulare and H. occidentale, and the biocontrol fungus Phlebiopsis gigantea were investigated regarding their secondary metabolites.

Bruton’s tyrosine kinase inhibition reduces disease severity in a model of secondary progressive autoimmune demyelination

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications, 2023
Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) is an emerging target in multiple sclerosis (MS). Alongside its role in B cell receptor signaling and B cell development, BTK regulates myeloid cell activation and inflammatory responses. Here we demonstrate efficacy of BTK

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

DNA topoisomerases participate in fragility of the oncogene RET [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fragile site breakage was previously shown to result in rearrangement of the RET oncogene, resembling the rearrangements found in thyroid cancer. Common fragile sites are specific regions of the genome with a high susceptibility to DNA breakage under ...

The homeodomain protein defective proventriculus is essential for male accessory gland development to enhance fecundity in Drosophila. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The Drosophila male accessory gland has functions similar to those of the mammalian prostate gland and the seminal vesicle, and secretes accessory gland proteins into the seminal fluid.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Distributed equalisation strategy for multi-battery energy storage systems

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Multi-battery energy storage systems (MBESSs) are widely adopted to overcome the uncertainty problem of renewable energy sources. However, state-of-charge (SOC) imbalance issue of MBESSs brings great challenges to the optimal dispatching strategy and the
