Heterodonty in the teeth of the turiasaurian sauropod from Angeac‐Charente (Early Cretaceous, southwestern France): Comparison of anatomical and geometric morphometric approaches

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Turiasaurian teeth from Angeac‐Charente exhibit five dental morphotypes and reveal clear heterodonty and anteroposterior size gradient. Qualitative comparative anatomy quickly and efficiently identifies morphotypes, while 3D geometric morphometrics combined with machine learning refine ambiguous cases, demonstrating that qualitative and quantitative ...

Dynamics of secondary pollen presentation in Campanula medium (Campanulaceae)

open access: yesJournal of Plant Research, 2019
After several decades of research, dynamics and patterns of mating system in floral evolution remain incompletely understood, especially with regards to strategies that combine both outcrossing and selfing, as frequently recorded in the genus Campanula.

Secondary pollen presentation and the temporal dynamics of stylar hair retraction and style elongation in Campanula trachelium (Campanulaceae)

open access: yesPlant Biology, 2013
AbstractTo increase the accuracy of pollen capture and transfer by pollinators some plant species have developed secondary pollen presentation structures. Because the presence of secondary pollen presentation structures at the pistil may reduce the spatial separation between the sexual functions and increase the risk of self‐interference and selfing ...

“Ixoroid” secondary pollen presentation and pollination by small moths in the Malagasy treeletIxora platythyrsa (Rubiaceae)

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1990
The pollination biology ofIxora platythyrsa (Rubiaceae) was studied in NW. Madagascar. The plant displayed cream-yellow, nocturnally fragrant, nectariferous, tubular and strongly protandrous flowers. These had an “ixoroid” secondary pollen presentation mechanism: prior to anthesis, anthers exhausted their pollen onto unripe stylar heads.

Diversity of styles and mechanisms of secondary pollen presentation in basal Asteraceae—New insights in phylogeny and function

Flora: Morphology, Distribution, Functional Ecology of Plants, 2015
Abstract Based on new studies on style morphology of basal subfamilies and tribes of Asteraceae (Barnadesioideae, Famatinanthoideae, Mutisioideae, Stifftioideae, Wunderlichioideae, Gochnatioideae, Hecastocleidoideae), we establish 15 style types in view of shape, bifurcation and distribution of stylar hairs and stigmatic tissue.
