Potent cytotoxic flavonoids from Iranian Securigera securidaca

Medicinal Chemistry Research, 2013
The seeds of Securigera securidaca (Fabaceae) were used for treatment of diabetes in folk medicine of Iran. In this study the cytotoxicity of different fractions of seeds extract led to purification of potent cytotoxic flavonoids. In the examination of cytotoxicity with brine shrimp lethality test method petroleum ether and chloroform fractions and ...

Securigenin glycosides as hypoglycemic principles of Securigera securidaca seeds

Journal of Natural Medicines, 2016
Seeds of Securigera securidaca (Fabaceae) are used in Iranian folk medicine as an antidiabetic treatment. In this study, the antihyperglycemic activity of chloroform and methanol fractions (CF and MF) from S. securidaca seed extract was investigated and their bioactive constituents were identified. The antidiabetic effects of fractions were assessed by

Effect ofSecurigera Securidacaon Electroshock Seizure Threshold in Mice

Psychological Reports, 1969
Finely crushed seeds 100 mg/kg or 250 mg/kg of body weight of Securigera Securidaca or their extracts with petroleum ether, absolute ether or chloroform 100 mg/kg of body weight were administered to albino mice to study their effects on brain excitability. The drugs significantly increased minimal electroshock-brain seizure-threshold. This effect might

Antihyperglycaemic effect and acute toxicity of Securigera Securidaca L. seed extracts in mice

Phytotherapy Research, 2002
AbstractThe antihyperglycaemic activity of a Securigera securidaca aqueous infusion and an ethanol maceration extract of seeds was studied in normoglycaemic, glucose‐induced hyperglycaemic and alloxan‐induced diabetic mice. The acute toxicity of the ethanol extract was more than that of the aqueous one.
