Dynamics of suspended sediment load in the upper part of the Rasina River Basin in 2010 [PDF]

open access: yesGlasnik Srpskog Geografskog Društva, 2013
The paper treats the issue of the suspended sediment load transport in the upper part of the Rasina River Basin, upstream from the "Ćelije" reservoir during the year of 2010.

Bottom changes in coastal areas with complex shorelines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A model for the sea-bottom change simulations in coastal areas with complex shorelines is proposed. In deep and intermediate water depths, the hydrodynamic quantities are calculated by numerically integrating the contravariant Boussinesq equations ...

Grain shape effects in bed load sediment transport

open access: yesNature, 2021
Bed load sediment transport, in which wind or water flowing over a bed of sediment causes grains to roll or hop along the bed, is a critically important mechanism in contexts ranging from river restoration to planetary exploration. Despite its widespread occurrence, predictions of bed load sediment flux are notoriously imprecise.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Catchment sediment load limits to achieve estuary sedimentation targets [PDF]

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, 2013
Abstract Limits are needed to manage the cumulative effects of sediments in estuaries. A method of calculating catchment sediment load limits to achieve estuary sedimentation targets is presented. The method is based on manipulating the sediment budget and takes advantage of the inherent complexity of the estuary and its connections to different ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Investigation the Joint Probabilistic Behavior of River Flow Discharge-Suspended Sediment Load in Nazlochai Basin, Urmia [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research
Accurately determining the relationship between river flow discharge and suspended sediment load in watersheds is challenging due to the influence of natural and human-induced variables on river estimations.

Late Holocene erosion in NW Anatolia from sediments of Lake Manyas, Lake Ulubat and the southern shelf of the Marmara Sea, Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper deals with modern and ancient sedimentation in fresh water lakes and the marine shelf of the southern Marmara region, NW Anatolia, Turkey. Most of the information has been obtained from monitoring of suspended load discharged into two lakes ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Impacts of climate change and human activities on sediment load in Longchuan River Basin, China

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies
Study region: Longchuan River Basin in the Hengduan mountain region, China. Study focus: With the decrease in annual precipitation, the sediment yield on the slope and sediment delivery ratio (SDR) in the river channel, both play a critical role in ...
