Type Specimens of the Species of the Genus Papillicalymene (Arthropoda, Trilobita) from Ukraine Described by Leonid Konstantynenko

open access: yesZoodiversity
The article presents diagnoses and information on the type series of two trilobite species of the genus Papillicalymene Shirley, 1936: P. dnistroviana Konstantynenko, 2006 and P. sokoliana Konstantynenko, 2006 from the Ludlow (Upper Silurian) of Podillia

Frações da matéria orgânica e propriedades redox de substâncias húmicas em sedimentos de oceanos profundos

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2013
Previous studies have verified that free radicals such as quinone moieties in organic matter participate in the redox reactions in natural systems. These functional groups were positively correlated with the increase in aromaticity and hydrophobicity of ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Looking for biomarkers of Hg exposure by transcriptome analysis in the aquatic plant Elodea nuttallii

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2013
Recently developed genomics tools have a promising potential to identify early biomarkers of exposure to toxicants. In the present work we used transcriptome analysis (RNA-seq) of Elodea nuttallii –an invasive rooted macrophyte that is able to accumulate

Concentration, enrichment and distribution of heavy metals in surface sediments of the Tangier Bay, Morocco

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2010
The distribution, enrichment, and accumulation of heavy metals in the surface sediments of the Tangier Bay, Morocco, were investigated. Surface sediment samples from eleven locations in the Bay of Tangier were collected in 2007 and characterized for ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Intrinsic and scattering attenuations of the Sichuan-Yunnan region in China from S coda wavesKey points

open access: yesEarthquake Science
Seismic attenuation is a fundamental property of the Earth's media. Attenuation structure for the complicated geological structures with strong seismicity in the Sichuan-Yunnan region is poorly studied. In this study, we collected 108,399 waveforms of 11,

Anoxic nitrification in marine sediments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Nitrate peaks are found in pore-water profiles in marine sediments at depths considerably below the conventional zone of oxic nitrification. These have been interpreted to represent nonsteady- state effects produced by the activity of nitrifying ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...
