Verification of Soybean Seed Coat Colour Specific Markers Reveals I Loci Specific Markers Capable for Distinguishing Genotypes Differing in Seed Coated Colour

LEGUME RESEARCH - AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL, 2020
Background: In soybean yellow seed coat is preferred in the market, however, colored ones are currently gaining attention because of their medicinal and nutritive values; besides. Hence it is essential to breed varieties with desired seed coat colour.

Biochemical analysis of anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin and their regulation in determining chickpea flower and seed coat colour

Journal of Experimental Botany, 2022
Abstract Flower and seed coat colour are important agronomic traits in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). Cultivated chickpeas are of two types namely, desi (dark seeded, purple flowered) and kabuli (light seeded, white flowered). There has been limited information about the molecular mechanism underlying colour variation of flower and ...

Biochemical composition of whole seed, decorticated seed and seed coat in sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) of different seed coat colours

Journal of Oilseeds Research, 2014
Biochemical analysis of whole seed, decorticated seed and seed coat of different coloured varieties of sesame were studied. Maximum oil content in whole and decorticated seed was recorded in white seeds (47.5 and 51%, respectively). Light brown seed coat showed maximum oil content (15.0%).

The colour of Pinus silvestris L. seeds and their susceptibility to damping‐off. II. Colour of seed coats and their chemical composition

European Journal of Forest Pathology, 1980
AbstractBlack seed of Scots pine are more resistant to damping‐off. The content of certain elements and chemical compounds in the seed coats differs widely depending on seed colour and physiological state (resting, germinating and infected seeds). The quantitative and qualitative differences in fatty acids content, total nitrogen, amino acids, some ...

Inheritance of coloured stripes on the flower standard and their association with seed coat colour in common bean

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 2019
The genetics of the presence of coloured stripes on the flower standard in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) was studied. One dominant gene was involved in the presence of purple stripes in PR1144-5/‘Badillo’ and 92BG-7/‘Verano’ populations. Furthermore, flowers without purple stripes co-segregated with light red and white seeds in both populations,

New insight into inheritance pattern of seed coat colour in adzuki bean

Plant Genetic Resources: Characterization and Utilization, 2023
AbstractSeed coat colour in adzuki bean is an important quality trait and closely associated with anthocyanin metabolism pathways. To further understand the inheritance of seed coat colour pattern, the inheritance between multiple seed coat colours and ivory seed were analysed using F1:2, F2:3 and F3:4 populations derived from five bi-parental crosses.

Identification of candidate genes for the seed coat colour change in a Brachypodium distachyon mutant induced by gamma radiation using whole-genome re-sequencing

open access: yesGenome, 2017
Brachypodium distachyon has been proposed as a model plant for agriculturally important cereal crops such as wheat and barley. Seed coat colour change from brown-red to yellow was observed in a mutant line (142-3) of B.

Effect of Seed Coat Colour on the Seed Quality of Water Melon (Citrullus Lanatus)

Africa Journal of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, 2018
Water melon is one of most cultivated vegetable fruit crop in the world. In Kenya the demand for this fruit for both local and export markets outstrips the supply. For Kenya to meet the high demand for water melon, quality seed is paramount since it guarantees high germination rate and vigor and on sequential high crop yields.

Inheritance of Seed-coat colour in Gram (Cicer arietinum)

Madras Agricultural Journal, 1950
It was stated in a previous paper by Ramanatha Ayyar and Balasubrahmanyan (1936) that the seed-coat colour Rood's brown corresponding to the seed grade CS 12 was formed by the addition of factor T to CS 10 and that T had no effect when P was absent.

Effect of Seed size and seed coat colour on Seed quality and productivity of red gram (Cajanus cajan L.)

Madras Agricultural Journal, 1982
of seeds viz., 625 6x8 retained and 6x8 possed occured in the seed lot. Besides sizes variation, seed coat colour varition also was encountered in one and the same sam- ple of seeds. Seeds possessing seed cost of uniformly tan colour uniformly dark tan colour and dark ten colour with black patches occurred Nearly 78 50 percent seeds could be recovered ...
