Flowering Periods, Seed Yield Components, Seed Quality, and Patterns of Seed Shattering in Paspalum: Effect of Taxonomy and Nitrogen Fertilization

open access: yesPlants
Perennial warm-season grasses typically have reduced seed yield, making it essential to identify the critical seed yield components. An induced increase in nitrogen could help determine which components are most limiting.

Density and context dependence of seed mortality in a tropical forest: indirect interactions among trees mediated by shared predators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
6openThe Janzen-Connell hypothesis is one of the leading explanations for tree species coexistence in tropical forests. Janzen-Connell propose a disproportional high offspring mortality due to high density of specialized predators and pathogens near ...

SEEDING DENSITY OF DIFFERENT FISH SPECIES IN POLYCULTURE

open access: yesVestnik of Astrakhan State Technical University. Series: Fishing industry, 2017
The article touches upon the principles, biological basics and practical progress of introduction of specific and age polyculture of fishes. Using the results of the analysis of literary and long-term native data, there has been offered the gradation of 12 fish species from different families by resistance to habitat conditions.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Potato yield and quality as a function of the plant density

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 1975
The effects of potato plant density on yield quantity and quality were investigated at the Hankkija Plant Breeding Institute from 1971-73, using seed rates of 1600, 3200 and 4800 kg/ha, and seed sizes of 40, 80 and 120 g.

RESPONSES OF WHEAT GENOTYPES TO DISTINCT SEEDING DENSITIES

open access: yesAGRI-ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
Optimizing seeding density is a fundamental strategy for maximizing wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) yield, yet establishing a universal recommendation is a persistent challenge in agronomy. The ideal plant population is highly dependent on complex interactions between genotype, management practices, and environmental conditions, often leading to ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
