A Dynamic Spike Sorter for Multiscale Nanoelectrode Array Recordings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work introduces a dynamic spike sorting pipeline that isolates diverse electrical signals from nanoelectrode arrays. Using biophysical simulations to calibrate signal processing, the approach reveals relationships between action potentials and membrane fluctuations, advancing the understanding of neuronal network excitability.

In‐Hand Singulation, Scooping, and Cable Untangling with a 5‐Dof Tactile‐Reactive Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article presents a two‐fingered gripper with five degrees of freedom and a vision‐based tactile sensor for dexterous in‐hand manipulation. It performs complex tasks such as object singulation within granular media, scooping and precise card insertion, and cable untangling.

MECHANICS OF DORMANCY IN SEEDS

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, 1916
Dormancy in plants is common in three organs, seeds, spores, and buds. In this paper I shall limit myself entirely to the discussion of dormancy in seeds for three reasons: far more critical and analytical work has been done on dormancy in seeds than upon the other two organs; obscure correlation effects do not play as prominent a part as in buds; and ...

Intelligent Eye Tracker Integrated with Cylindrical Capacitive Sensors for Chronic Fatigue Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A wearable capacitive eye tracker for chronic fatigue assessment is presented, utilizing cylindrically shaped capacitive sensors made of a carbon nanotube‐paper composite. By integrating a novel fatigue‐induction protocol with machine learning, the device achieves 0.75‐sensitivity and 0.73‐specificity, providing a practical alternative to existing ...

Differential incidence of the lemma on seed germination among different Paspalum dilatatum genotypes

open access: yesJournal of Seed Science
: Paspalum dilatatum Poir. is a promising perennial summer grass forage for temperate regions, but among other factors, slow stand establishment has hindered its adoption. One of the reasons may be seed dormancy.

The Morphological, Behavioral, and Transcriptomic Life Cycle of Anthrobots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DNA is thought to determine shape, behavior, and lifespan, with developmental plasticity reserved for stem cells, embryos, and species like amphibia. How much morphogenetic plasticity do adult somatic human cells exhibit? Anthrobots are a self‐organizing, motile synthetic living construct made of genetically normal human epithelial cells.

Integrating Dense Genotyping with High‐Throughput Phenotyping Empowers the Genetic Dissection of Berry Quality and Resilience Traits in Grapevine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers develop advanced tools to study grapevine traits like berry quality and stress resilience. A 200K SNP array and high‐throughput phenotyping enable the identification of loci linked to berry shape, sugar content, acidity, and cold tolerance. Functional validation of genes such as NAC08 reveals roles in cold tolerance.
