EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

SEED PRODUCTION

open access: yesProceedings of the New Zealand Grassland Association, 1968
MID-CANTERBURY is the centre of the main small seed growing area of New Zealand and the purpose of this paper, is to show how the growing of these seeds-in particular, the seeds of herbage species-relates to the general farm programme; what problems the seed trade is facing at present; and what might be done to improve the position.

Salmonella in Sesame Seed Products

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 2004
In the context of an international outbreak of multiresistant Salmonella Typhimurium DT 104 that was correlated to the consumption of halvah ("helva," an Asian candy made from sesame seed), we examined several sesame seed products for the occurrence of Salmonella.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

SEED YAM PRODUCTION WITH MINITUBERS

open access: yesNigeria Agricultural Journal, 2004
The performance of various sizes of minitubers of both D. alata (UM680) and D. rotundata (Obioturugo and Abi) were evaluated for size and yield of seed yams between 1998 and 2000. Minitubers are whole but small (30-100g) tubers that farmers could simply plant directly into their farms, as is the case for seed potatoes. D.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Biochemical Composition of Pumpkin Seeds and Seed By-Products

open access: yesPlants
The goal of the current work was to assess the nutritional profile and phytochemical properties of cucurbit (Cucurbita maxima L.) seeds, seed oils and oil extraction by-products (e.g., seed-cakes). Our results suggest a high nutritional value for both cucurbit seeds and cucurbit cake, while γ-tocopherol was the richest compound, with traces of α, β and
