MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Assessing the Genotypic Differences for Seed Set and Seed Abortion in Tomato Genotypes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Tomato (_Lycopersicon esculentum_ Mill.) is one of the most popular fruit vegetable around the world. Seed abortion where in only a small proportion of ovules in an ovary develops into matured seeds, is a wide spread phenomenon in multi-ovulated species.

Synergistic Effect of PGPR and Nutrient Complex on Soybean Seed Germination and Initial Seedling Growth

open access: yesAgriculture
Biostimulants based on Bradyrhizobium japonicum are commonly used in soybean production. However, the effect of nitrogen-fixing bacteria in consortia with other plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and their integration with mineral nutrients on ...

Effects of exposure of honey bee colonies to neonicotinoid seed–treated maize crops

open access: yesJournal of Apicultural Science, 2013
The effects to honeybee colonies (Apis mellifera L.) during and after exposure to flowering maize (Zea mays L.), grown from seeds coated with clothianidin and imidacloprid was assessed in field-realistic conditions.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Soil seed bank dynamics in transferred topsoil: Evaluating restoration potentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Global change, increasing human population growth and urbanisation represent increasing pressures on biodiversity and ecosystem function. It is now widely recognised that conservation of existing natural fragments will not be sufficient to maintain ...

IV. STORAGE AND GERMINATION TESTS ON SHOREA JAVANICA SEEDS

open access: yesBiotropia: The Southeast Asian Journal of Tropical Biology, 1987
Seeds of Shorea javanica K & V (Dipterocarpaceae), were subjected to different treatments of temperature (27 ± 2°C, 20 ± 2°C and < 10°C), coating (ash and paraffin) and relative humidity (20, 66 and 86%) and their germination capability as

Boosting Seed Performance with Cold Plasma

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In 2015, the global community set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the second goal aiming to end hunger by 2030. In sustainable agriculture, seed treatment plays a crucial role and cold plasma (CP) has emerged as a promising, eco-friendly ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.
