Single-Plant Grain Yield in Corn (Zea mays L.) Based on Emergence Date, Seed Size, Sowing Depth, and Plant to Plant Distance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The lack of seedling emergence uniformity in corn (Zea mays L.) is concerning for producers in the Midwestern U.S. These producers believe that just a few hours delay in emergence can increase interplant competition and decrease single-plant yield, thus ...

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Relationship between seed harvesting method and seed physiological quality for a number of Pioneer maize hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The seed germination and seed vigor of eight Pioneer Hi-Bred maize hybrids were evaluated immediately after harvesting and a year later. The aim was to determine whether the seed showed loss of germination and vigor when shelled mechanically.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Effect of time of fungicide application on the second harvest seed yield of five cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.) cultivars [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The effects of time of fungicide application on seed yield and its components were determined for second harvest plots of three New Zealand (Grasslands Wanan, Grasslands Kara, Grasslands Tekapo) and two Japanese (Akimidori, Makibamidori) cocksfoot ...

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MORPHOLOGICAL TRAITS AND SEED YIELD OF IRANIAN GARDEN CRESS ACCESSIONS

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2019
In order to evaluate the relationship between traits affecting the seed yield of the garden cress, phenotypic correlations between seed yield and yield components were detected, direct and indirect effects of yield components on yield and its role in ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.
