Mortality of Transplanted Saguaro Seedlings
Ecology, 1969Only 26 of an original 800 5—cm—tall saguaros (Carnegiea gigantea) survived for 3 months when accessible to the rodents and rabbits at Saguaro National Monument, Arizona; after 1 year all of these small plants were gone. Although losses among a group of larger (15—cm—tall) seedlings were less abrupt, only one plant of an original 120 remained by the ...

An Improved Seedling Block Transplanter
Transactions of the ASAE, 1982ABSTRACT A hand-fed, single-row, leafy-vegetable seedling block transplanter has been modified to use cylindrical seedling blocks, 5.1 cm in height and 5.1 cm in diameter. A seedling block tray and feeding mechanism were add-ed to eliminate hand feeding. Field testing of the improv-ed equipment gave satisfactory results.

Design and Simulation of taking-putting seedling manipulator of plug seedling transplanter
2021 ASABE Annual International Virtual Meeting, July 12-16, 2021, 2021Abstract. According to the working requirements of vegetable plug seedling transplanting, and aiming to solve the problem that there are many matrix residues in holes during the transplanting process, a manipulator seedling removal device with end-effector as the finger shovel has been designed. The manipulator can stably clamp multiple seedling bowls,

A Machine for Transplanting Seedlings
Journal of Forestry, 1943Abstract This article describes a method of altering an ordinary celery planter for use in transplanting seedlings in forest tree nurseries. The machine has given such excellent results in the South Muskegon Soil Conservation District in western Michigan that the author believes it may soon replace transplanting boards in most forest

Development of Automatic Transplanter for Plug Seedling
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2010Abstract Transplanting is one of the most important operations during vegetable and flower production. Because of the higher labor intensity and lower efficiency for the operation by hand, it is difficult to enlarge production scale. So, it has become an urgent task to achieve automation of plug seedling transplanting for Chinese horticulture ...

Automated devices to grow and transplant seedlings
IEEE International Workshop on Intelligent Robots and Systems, Towards a New Frontier of Applications, 2002Transplanting seedlings is important in agriculture. Automating activities involved in transforming seeds or plant materials into transplanted seedlings can help reduce costs. Research activities related to automating procedures are discussed: containers to grow and ship seedlings, which facilitate automation; short, sturdy seedlings for machine ...

Development of an Automatic Transplanting Mechanism for protray vegetable seedlings
Madras Agricultural Journal, 2017Performance evaluation of an automatic gripping type transplanting mechanism for plug type vegetable seedlings was tested. Forty and twenty-five days old chilli, brinjal and tomato seedlings were used for the study. Well decomposed coco-pith (68.46 % moisture) was used as the medium for raising the seedlings. The tray contained 98 cells arranged in the

A planting aid for potato seedling transplants
American Potato Journal, 1993Hand planting large numbers of seedlings into field plots is difficult, time consuming and labor intensive. Conventional mechanical planters have long been available, but do not do an adequate job when numerous small plots are to be planted, seedlings vary widely in size, or when the seedbed is not uniform or contains rocks or clods.
