With the exception of the Japanese rice transplanters, no particular automatic machine has been widely accepted by growers. Thus, a need still exists for a successful automatic transplanter design.

CEMAG, a new transplanter for forest seedlings
1993The benefits and effects of transplanting forest seedlings are discussed. The causes of root deformation when using traditional rotary-planting transplanters are highlighted and possible solutions proposed. A linear-planting transplanter was developed and in preliminary tests significantly improved the quality of root systems.
