Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Unsound Seeds

open access: yes, 2019
With this image of a curtain hiding and at the same time heightening some terrible secret, Max Kalbeck began his review of the first Viennese performance of Richard Strauss’s Salome. Theodor W. Adorno picked up the image of the curtain in the context of Strauss’s fabled skill at composing non-musical events, when he identified the opening flourish of ...

To what extent can non-price/income instruments influence the demand for energy? [PDF]

open access: yes
The demand for energy is not simply a function of price and income, but can be shown also to be a function also of the underlying energy demand trend (UEDT).

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Application of Mealworm Frass in Organic Seedling Production of Allium cepa L., Beta vulgaris L., and Brassica rapa L.

open access: yesSeeds
Horticulture is mainly based on transplanting seedlings produced by specialized nurseries. The recent European authorization of frass in organic farming presents new opportunities for the development of organic seedling production. Frass, a by-product of

Modelling OECD Industrial Energy Demand: Asymmetric Price Responses and Energy – Saving Technical Change [PDF]

open access: yes
The industrial sector embodies a multifaceted production process consequently modelling the ‘derived demand’ for energy is a complex issue; made all the more difficult by the need to capture the effect of technical progress of the capital stock.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.
