At Mississippi’s 1890 state constitutional convention, white ministers blessed the work of disenfranchising black voters as the triumph of Christian family order. With the loss of civil and political rights, Black Christians renewed their theological arguments that racial prejudice and violence were sins before heaven.

Triple-halide wide–band gap perovskites with suppressed phase segregation for efficient tandems
Science, 2020Tuning band gaps with three halides Tandem solar cells can boost solar cell efficiency by using two active layers to absorb the solar spectrum more completely, provided that the two cells are current-matched.

Spatial Vision, 1989
Six experiments investigated the preattentive segregation of line-like patterns composed of discrete elements in a background of distractors. The results indicate that other factors in addition to spatial density influence line segregation. Edge alignment, edge length and principal axis orientation also affect line segregation.

Fortified Enclaves: The New Urban Segregation
Cities and Citizenship, 2020n the last few decades, the proliferation of fortified enclaves has created a new 1 model of spatial segregation and transformed the quality of public life in many cities around the world. Fortified enclaves are privatized, enclosed, and monitored spaces

From residence to movement: The nature of racial segregation in everyday urban mobility
Urban studies, 2021While research on racial segregation in cities has grown rapidly over the last several decades, its foundation remains the analysis of the neighbourhoods where people reside. However, contact between racial groups depends not merely on where people live,

Plasmid Segregation Mechanisms
Annual Review of Genetics, 2005Bacterial plasmids encode partitioning (par) loci that ensure ordered plasmid segregation prior to cell division. par loci come in two types: those that encode actin-like ATPases and those that encode deviant Walker-type ATPases. ParM, the actin-like ATPase of plasmid R1, forms dynamic filaments that segregate plasmids paired at mid-cell to daughter ...

Many antigen receptors of the immune system belong to the family of multichain immune recognition receptors (MIRRs). Binding of ligand (antigen) to MIRR results in receptor phosphorylation, triggering downstream signaling pathways and cellular activation. How ligand binding induces this phosphorylation is not yet understood. In this Chapter, we discuss
