Intra-urban inequalities during rapid development: space egalitarianism in Tokyo between 1955-1975

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban Sustainable Development, 2021
This paper demonstrates empirically that Tokyo’s rapid post-war growth coincided with decreasing intra-urban inequalities in the special ward area, both in terms of private and public living standards.

Taking the Social out of Social Housing? Recent Developments, Current Tendencies, and Future Challenges to the Danish Social Housing Model

open access: yesTidsskrift for boligforskning, 2023
The Danish social housing sector is not actually a social housing sector in the sense that it supplies housing only to the socially deprived. Rather, the sector is open to everyone who puts their name on a waiting list.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Kif11-haploinsufficient oocytes reveal spatially differential requirements for chromosome biorientation

open access: yesEMBO Reports
Bipolar spindle assembly and chromosome biorientation are prerequisites for chromosome segregation during cell division. The kinesin motor KIF11 (also widely known as Eg5) drives spindle bipolarization by sliding antiparallel microtubules bidirectionally,

Evidence of substrate control of Cdk phosphorylation during the budding yeast cell cycle

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: A series of sequential events orchestrates cell growth and division, set in motion by cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks). In the “qualitative model” for Cdk control, order is achieved by cell cycle stage-specific cyclins.

High chrome cast iron for mineral processing and conveying equipment parts

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2022
The main reasons for the formation of microand macrocracks and other defects in waterjet castings, which significantly reduce their service life, are analyzed.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Thermodynamic properties of liquid InNa alloys

open access: yesBibechana, 2012
Concept of complex formation model has been applied to account for the thermodynamic properties of liquid InNa alloy. The theoretical study reveals that the intermetallic compound In3Na2 exists at stoichiometric composition.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created
