A new index to characterize the segregation of binary mixture
Abstract In present study, we develop a new segregation index having both geometrical and physical significances, on the basis of segregation profile of granular bed. We carry out a DEM simulation to validate this index and analyze the segregation of binary mixture.

A generalized index of employment segregation
Mathematical Social Sciences, 2007Abstract This article axiomatically derives a class of numerical indices of integration (equality) in the distribution of male–female workers across occupations. The associated segregation (inequality) indices parallel the multidimensional Atkinson inequality indices.

Segregation analyses of the index fingerprint
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1988AbstractSegregation analyses have been performed on both the ridge count and the pattern type (arch vs. nonarch) of the index fingerprints in a sample of 422 families. These analyses suggest a dominant autosomal major gene for arch and a recessive autosomal gene for low ridge count on the index finger.

Segregation Indexes Are Invalid
Journal of Black Psychology, 1987This article examines the statistical validity of segregation indexes. Special attention is given to the Taeuber Index, the most used index and the standard of comparison for other indexes. The mathematical formulas of segregation indexes are tested against appropriate inferential test statistics.

Segregation index: An orsametric for measuring discrimination against minorities
Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, 1983Orsametrics, the science of data and measurement appropriate to decision-making models, was proposed by H. M. Wagner in 1971. This paper proposes an orsametric measuring the distance between the current distribution of minorities in the organization and the worst distribution that minorities could have, given a specified proportion of minorities ...
