Prediction of seizure control in non-ketotic hyperglycemic induced seizures [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2009

Caffeinated beverages and decreased seizure control [PDF]

open access: yesSeizure, 2003
Seizure control is often affected by seizure threshold lowering behaviours. In this case report, the authors address excessive caffeine ingestion from tea with increased seizure frequency. When decaffeinated beverages were substituted for the tea, seizure frequency returned to baseline. Similar findings occurred when the patient was re-challenged.

Pretreatment Seizure Frequency, Control & Remission

open access: yesPediatric Neurology Briefs, 1996
The effect of the number of seizures before antiepileptic drug (AED) treatment on the ease of seizure control and remission was studied in a population-based regional cohort of 479 children with epilepsy at the IWK Children’s Hospital, Halifax, Nova ...

IL-6 is associated with poor seizure control in low-grade glioma patients undergoing primary resection

open access: yesiScience
Summary: In this study, 198 patients with low-grade gliomas (LGGs) undergoing primary resection were evaluated for seizure status at 24 months after primary resection with the Engel classification of seizures, and 120 patients had good seizure control ...

Seizure forecasting and cyclic control of seizures [PDF]

open access: yesEpilepsia, 2020
AbstractEpilepsy is a unique neurologic condition characterized by recurrent seizures, where causes, underlying biomarkers, triggers, and patterns differ across individuals. The unpredictability of seizures can heighten fear and anxiety in people with epilepsy, making it difficult to take part in day‐to‐day activities.

Non adherence to treatment and the associated factors in patients with epilepsy in Southern Ethiopia

open access: yesHealthcare in Low-resource Settings, 2022
Adherence to antiepileptic drug therapy in people with epilepsy is critical for seizure control. Poor adherence to epilepsy treatment, on the other hand, is recognized as a worldwide problem, particularly in developing countries such as Ethiopia.

Combined use of the ketogenic diet and vagus nerve stimulation in pediatric drug‐resistant epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, 2021
Objective Patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) pose considerable management challenges for patients, their families, and providers. Both the vagus nerve stimulator (VNS) and the ketogenic diet (KD) have been shown to be safe and effective in ...
