Grinding Performance and Physical Properties of Selected Biomass

2002 Chicago, IL July 28-31, 2002, 2002
Biomass residues such as straws, corn stover and energy crop - switchgrass were ground using a hammer mill with three different screen sizes (3.175 mm, 1.588 mm and 0.794 mm) for densification. Energy required for grinding these materials was measured at two different moisture contents. Among the four materials, switchgrass had the highest specific

Mulching effects on selected soil physical properties

Soil and Tillage Research, 2008
Abstract The suitability of soil for sustaining plant growth and biological activity is a function of physical and chemical properties, many of which depend on the quantity and quality of soil organic matter. The equilibrium level of soil organic matter depends on the balance between input through plant residues and other biosolids and output through

Selected Thermo-physical Properties of Rice Bran

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1994
Bran obtained from milling two commercial rice varieties, a long grain (‘Lemont’) and a medium grain (‘Nato’), was used for the determination of thermo-physical properties such as bulk and particle density, porosity, thermal conductivity and diffusivity, and specific heat. The milling of rough rice yielded 7.22% and 7.09% bran for long and medium grain,

The synthesis and physical properties of selected triacylglycerols

1985
The study of triacylglycerol interactions in the solid phase and their behaviour during crystallisation requires the availability of individual triacylglycerols of proven positional and structural purity. The aim of this work was to prepare some specific triacylglycerols and to examine their crystallisation behaviour as individual samples and in binary
