Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Some star selection principles and applications
90 p. : ill. ; 30 cmIn this thesis, we study some covering properties in topological and bi-topological spaces, using open and closed covers, neighborhoods and Menger, Rothberger, Hurewicz and Lindelof covering properties.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Tool selection and rationalisation [PDF]
The work presented in this thesis is concerned with the selection of tooling and operating conditions for turning, and the subsequent rationalisation of these tooling and operating conditions.

Bidirectional branch and bound for controlled variable selection. Part I: principles and minimum singular value criterion. [PDF]
The minimum singular value (MSV) rule is a useful tool for selecting controlled variables (CVs) from the available measurements. However, the application of the MSV rule to large-scale problems is difficult, as all feasible measurement subsets need to

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Natural Selection as a Population-Level Causal Process [PDF]
Recent discussions in the philosophy of biology have brought into question some fundamental assumptions regarding evolutionary processes, natural selection in particular.
