Design equations for selective harmonic elimination and microcontroller implementation

IECON 2014 - 40th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2014
The paper presents an analytical approach to find switching angles for an optimal PWM signal. The solution is in closed form that eliminates the need for numerical solution to find the transition angles. The disadvantage in iterative computation is overhead in computational effort as it requires a PC with expensive software and solution time can be a ...

Five-level converter with selective harmonic elimination for STATCOM

2015 Intl Aegean Conference on Electrical Machines & Power Electronics (ACEMP), 2015 Intl Conference on Optimization of Electrical & Electronic Equipment (OPTIM) & 2015 Intl Symposium on Advanced Electromechanical Motion Systems (ELECTROMOTION), 2015
In this paper, five-level Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is analyzed with reduced number of power switches. The simulation has been performed by using a digital signal processing unit (DSP) and Matlab/Simulink together. Selective harmonic elimination, single phase real (P) and reactive (Q) power methods are used to control power flow in the ...

Selective harmonic elimination in a conventional inverter

2017 8th Annual Industrial Automation and Electromechanical Engineering Conference (IEMECON), 2017
Ordinary single phase inverter gives a square wave output which when applied to electrical appliances may damage the later, reduce its efficiency as well as life as this inverter output waveform is not sinusoidal and contains lower and higher order harmonics in addition to fundamental. Moreover, the output voltage cannot be controlled.

Selective Harmonic Elimination for an Asymmetrical Multilevel Converter

2007 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2007
In this paper, a novel asymmetrical multilevel converter is proposed which is composed a 3-level leg and a 2-level leg. The principle of the converter is analyzed. The new schema requires fixed insulated supplies instead of capacitors. Selective harmonic elimination method is used to eliminate the specified harmonics in the output voltage.

Multilevel Selective Harmonic Elimination for an Asymmetric Converter

2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM), 2018
A novel Multilevel Selective Harmonic Elimination technique is presented for a 27-Level cascaded converter that follows the 9:3:1 ratio. The mathematical model of the AC waveform in the frequency domain allows to calculate the firing angles of the power cells in order to eliminate all the non-triple odd harmonics below the 51th order.

Selective Harmonic Elimination PWM For a Cascaded Multi-level Inverter

2020 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2020
This paper deals with the selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHE-PWM) technique. This technique is used for the elimination of selected dominant low order harmonics in the multi-level inverter output voltage. The presence of these harmonics is the essential drawback of such kind of inverters; especially when it is used for the ...

Selective harmonic elimination for the modular multilevel converter

2016 North American Power Symposium (NAPS), 2016
This paper will analyze the power quality of multilevel voltage waveforms generated using three modulation strategies: i) a conventional nearest level control (NLC) strategy, ii) NLC with harmonic elimination, and iii) optimized selective harmonic elimination (OSHE).

Elimination of selective harmonics in a Multi-Level Inverter

2013 7th International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Control (ISCO), 2013
This paper presents a selective harmonics elimination in Multi-Level Inverter. The basic concept of this reduction is to eliminate specific harmonics, which are generally of the lowest orders, with an appropriate choice of switching angles. This paper employs Homotopy algorithm to solve the transcendental equations for finding the switching angles ...

Selective Harmonic Elimination for a Cascade Multilevel Inverter

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2006
This paper presents selective harmonic elimination method for cascade multilevel converters to eliminate the specified harmonics in the output voltage. The principle of the converter is analyzed. Then the switching angles are computed to eliminate the low order harmonics in theory. And the gating signals for the converter are given.

An Improved Modulation of the Selective Harmonic Elimination Controlling

2006 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2006
In the application of the traditional selective harmonic elimination technique, the lowest un-eliminated harmonic and the total harmonic distortion factor are obviously enlarged usually, which would do great harm to the power system. In order to solve the problem, this paper presented an improved harmonic elimination technique. In this new technique, a
