The Liquid Phase Catalytic Hydrogenation of the Furfural to Furfuryl Alcohol

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
The results of the study of palladium catalysts in the selective hydrogenation of furfural to furfural alcohol are presented. A comparison of the properties of palladium catalytic systems prepared on different supports (aluminium oxide, hypercrosslinked ...

Co2FeGe Heusler Alloy Nanoparticle Catalysts for Propyne Hydrogenation and Ammonia Decomposition

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2023
Heusler alloys (X2YZ) can be a candidate for new catalysts as well as other intermetallic compounds. We previously found good catalytic properties of Co2FeGe for selective hydrogenation of alkynes and developed nanoparticles of Co2FeGe supported on SiO2.

Synthesis of Co-Sn intermetallic nanocatalysts toward selective hydrogenation of citral

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, three supported Co-Sn intermetallic compound (IMC) catalysts (Co2.9Sn2, CoSn and CoSn2) with a particle size of similar to 20 nm were prepared via a facile hydrotalcite approach, and their catalytic performances were evaluated in the ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Developments in the hydrogenation of challenging substrates utilising transition metal complexes

open access: yes, 2014
This thesis describes the developments of new protocols for the hydrogenation of challenging substrates. Three specific substrates were highlighted for study after an initial review of the literature; benzofurans, esters and bulky ketones.

Graphene Encapsulated Ni@N/C Catalyst for Highly Selec- tive Semi-hydrogenation of Terminal Alkynes

open access: yes, 2021
Although precious transition metals such as palladium, platinum, and iridium have been widely used in hydro- genation reactions, the earth-abundant transition metal-catalyzed highly selective semi-hydrogenation of alkynes, especially terminal alkynes to ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
