NiCo/Al2O3 nanocatalysts for the synthesis of 5-amino-1-pentanol and 1,5-pentanediol from biomass-derived 2-hydroxytetrahydropyran

open access: yesGreen Chemical Engineering
Al2O3-supported monometallic Ni, Co, and bimetallic Ni–Co nanocatalysts originated from layered double hydroxide precursors were synthesized by co-precipitation method, and used for the synthesis of useful 5-amino-1-pentanol (5-AP) and 1,5-pentanediol (1,

Preparation of mesoporous Cu/Zn/Ce/Zr/Al catalysts and activity in steam reforming of methanol

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Ammonium carbonate-assisted mechanochemical preparation of Cu-based catalysts has been developed for steam reforming of methanol (SRM). The characteristics of the catalysts were studied by N2 adsorption–desorption, N2O titration, TEM, XRD, XPS, H2-TPR ...

Effect of Corn Starch Granules on Stabilizing the Foam Structure of Ultrasonically Modified Whey Isolate Protein

open access: yesFoods, 2022
In this study, the mechanism of ultrasound combined with corn starch granules (CSG) treatment improved the foam properties of whey protein isolates (WPI) and was systematically investigated.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Promotion of the excited electron transfer over Ni- and Co -sulfide co-doped g-C3N4 photocatalyst (g-C3N4/NixCo1−xS2) for hydrogen Production under visible light irradiation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
A Ni- and Co- sulfide co-doped g-C3N4 photocatalyst (g-C3N4/NixCo1−xS2) was prepared by hydrothermal method and this photocatalyst, namely, g-C3N4/NixCo1−xS2 shown excellent photocatalytic properties due to the special structure of Ni-Co-S with boundary ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
