A highly proton conductive perfluorinated covalent triazine framework via low-temperature synthesis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Proton-conducting materials are essential to the emerging hydrogen economy. Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) are promising proton-conducting materials at high temperatures but need more effective sites to strengthen interaction for proton carriers ...

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Inverse ceria-nickel catalyst for enhanced C–O bond hydrogenolysis of biomass and polyether

open access: yesNature Communications
Regulating interfacial electronic structure of oxide-metal composite catalyst for the selective transformation of biomass or plastic waste into high-value chemicals through specific C–O bond scission is still challenging due to the presence of multiple ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Exploration of ZnO-Doped Nitrogen-Carbon Materials Derived from Polyamide-Imide for Propane Dehydrogenation

open access: yesInorganics
A series of ZnO-doped nitrogen-carbon materials (xZnO-N-C) with ZnO contents of 5–40% are prepared by a vacuum curing–carbonization strategy using polyamide-imide as the N-C source and zinc nitrate as the metal source for propane dehydrogenation (PDH ...

Research Progress on Mechanoenzymology in Food Processing [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
Mechanoenzymology has emerged as a mechanical enzyme catalysis strategy in the food field due to its solvent-free or solvent-less characteristics. Solvent-free mechanoenzymatic catalysis reaction can effectively use the specificity, regioselectivity and ...

Regulating electron configuration of single Cu sites via unsaturated N,O-coordination for selective oxidation of benzene

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Developing highly efficient catalysts for selective oxidation of benzene to phenol with low H2O2 consumption remains challenging. Here the authors report a highly active and selective non-noble metal catalyst for selective oxidation of benzene to phenol ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
