Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A function‐valued trait approach to estimating the genetic basis of size at age and its potential role in fisheries‐induced evolution

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, 2019
Natural selection is inherently a multivariate phenomenon. The selection pressure on size (natural and artificial) and the age at which selection occurs is likely to induce evolutionary changes in growth rates across the entire life history. However, the

Utilizing Imogolite Nanotubes as a Tunable Catalytic Material for the Selective Isomerization of Glucose to Fructose [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The isomerization of glucose to fructose is an important step in the conversion of biomass to valuable fuels and chemicals. A key challenge for the isomerization reaction is achieving high selectivity towards fructose using recyclable and inexpensive ...

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Childbearing among first- and second-generation Russians in Estonia against the background of the sending and host countries

open access: yesDemographic Research, 2017
Background: An expanding literature documents the childbearing patterns of migrants and their descendants in contemporary Europe. The existing evidence pertains mainly to the northern, western, and southern regions of the continent, while less is known ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

STEREOCHEMISTRY OF HEXENYL RADICAL CYCLIZATIONS WITH TERT-BUTYL AND RELATED LARGE GROUPS: SUBSTITUENT AND TEMPERATURE EFFECTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The long held notion that hexenyl radicals bearing large substituents on the radical carbon cyclize to give 1,2-trans-substituted cyclopentanes is experimentally disproved by study of the radical cyclization of an assortment of simple and complex ...
