Modified bipolar membrane for electrodialysis processing of highly concentrated sodium nitrate and boric acid solution

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta
We studied the characteristics of two membranes: the industrial bipolar membrane MB-3, consisting of two layers, i.e., an anion exchanger with quaternary ammonium groups and a cation exchanger with phosphonate groups, and the membrane MB-3M, modified on ...

Fitness of B-biotype Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) to different varieties of tomato, Lycopersicon esculentum Mill

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2008
The development, survivorship and reproduction of B-biotype Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) on eleven different varieties of tomato Lycopersicon esculentum Mill were studied at (26±1) ℃, with a photoperiod of 14 h light vs.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A pendant proton shuttle on [Fe4N(CO)12]- alters product selectivity in formate vs. H2 production via the hydride [H-Fe4N(CO)12]. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Proton relays are known to increase reaction rates for H2 evolution and lower overpotentials in electrocatalytic reactions. In this report we describe two electrocatalysts, [Fe4N(CO)11(PPh3)]- (1-) which has no proton relay, and hydroxyl-containing [Fe4N(

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Molecular Determinants Elucidate the Selectivity in Abscisic Acid Receptor and HAB1 Protein Interactions

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
The abscisic acid (ABA), as a pivotal plant hormone, plays a key role in controlling the life cycle and adapting to the environmental stresses. The receptors of ABA are the Pyrabactin resistance/Pyrabactin resistance-like/regulatory component of ABA ...

Role of fluctuations in a snug-fit mechanism of KcsA channel selectivity

open access: yes, 2005
The KcsA potassium channel belongs to a class of K+ channels that is selective for K+ over Na+ at rates of K+ transport approaching the diffusion limit. This selectivity is explained thermodynamically in terms of favorable partitioning of K+ relative to ...

Enhanced selectivity of hydrogel-based molecularly imprinted polymers (HydroMIPs) following buffer conditioning. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We have investigated the effect of buffer solution composition and pH during the preparation, washing and re-loading phases within a family of acrylamide-based molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for bovine haemoglobin (BHb), equine myoglobin (EMb) and

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

No deleterious circumference effects for T90 codends in an Australian fish trawl targeting tiger flathead, Platycephalus richardsoni

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
In an attempt to improve the selectivity of Australian fish trawls targeting tiger flathead, Platycephalus richardsoni (≥28 cm total length), the utility of four-seam codends with shortened lastridge ropes and comprising 71-mm meshes turned 90° (T90 ...
