Selenium and hydrogen selenide: essential micronutrient and the fourth gasotransmitter?

open access: yesIntensive Care Medicine Experimental, 2019
Selenium (Se) is an essential micronutrient required by organisms of diverse lineage. Dietary Se is converted to hydrogen selenide either enzymatically or by endogenous antioxidant proteins.

Hydrogen (H2) Recovery From Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S): Current Technologies, Challenges, and Future Outlook

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) can be transformed into hydrogen (H2) through several chemical and catalytic processes, offering a promising route for both waste treatment and clean H2 production. This colorless, flammable, and toxic gas is found abundantly in swamps, volcanoes, hot springs, sewages, other natural gas fields, and even in refineries and

Characterization of tin selenides synthesized by high-energy milling [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2011
Tin selenides SnSeX (x=1,2) were synthesized from tin and selenium powder precursors by high-energy milling in the planetary ballmill Pulverisette 6 (Fritsch, Germany). The orthorhombic tin selenide SnSe and the hexagonal tin diselenide SnSe2 phases were

Operando Electrochemical Formation of Integrated Ni‐Fe Oxyhydroxide Anode for Durable Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The interfacial stability and activity of Ni‐Fe‐based AEMWE anodes can be directly enhanced by operando voltage‐cycling in a FeOOH‐containing electrolyte. This process simultaneously induces Ni oxidation and Fe incorporation, forming an integrated, porous (Fe, Ni)OOH layer with high conductivity and durability.

Defect Driven Electronic Structure Reconfiguration and Hierarchical Phonon Suppression in Ag2Se Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Indium substitution in Ag2Se nanocrystals simultaneously tailors electronic structure and lattice dynamics. Fermi‐level upshift and band‐gap narrowing enhance electrical transport, while defect‐induced lattice softening intensifies phonon scattering and suppresses lattice thermal conductivity.

Hierarchical NiCo2Se4 Arrays Composed of Atomically Thin Nanosheets: Simultaneous Improvements in Thermodynamics and Kinetics for Electrocatalytic Water Splitting in Neutral Media

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The inefficiency of electrocatalysts for water splitting in neutral media stems from a comprehensive impact of poor intrinsic activity, a limited number of active sites, and inadequate mass transport.
