Role of Acid-Base Equilibria in the Reduction of Selenious(IV) Acid

open access: yesAnalytical Letters, 2000
Electroanalytical methods have been widely used for determination of Se(IV), but the nature of the reduction processes involved is not well understood. Polargraphic reduction occurs in three waves (i(1), i(2), and i(3)) the height of which changes with ...

Acid-Base and Photochemical Reactions of Selenious Acid

open access: yesAnalytical Letters, 1982
Abstract Spectrophotometric data used in connection with HA acidity function yield pK1=−3.3(K1= [H2SeO3][H+]/[H3SeO3 +]);potentiometric and spectral measurements give for pK2 and pK3 data in agreement with the literature. At pH > 10 selenite undergoes a fast photochemical reaction, preceded by a rapidly established acid-base equilibrium.

Oxidation of 3-carene with selenious acid [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1965
1. The action of selenious acid on 3-carene in ethanolic solution was studied. It results in the formation of a complex mixture, consisting of p-isopropenyltoluene, p-mentha-l,5-dien-8-ol, the ethyl ether of a dienol (probably p-mentha-l,5-dien-8-ol), p ...

Microanalysis of selenious acid

open access: yesMicrochemical Journal, 1965
Summary A procedure is described for the determination of microquantities of selenious acid by measurement of conductivity changes. Precision and accuracy are compared with the results obtained by iodometric and chelometric titrations.

The kinetics of the hydrogen peroxide oxidation of selenious acid

open access: yes, 1954
The rates of disappearance of selenious acid and hydrogen peroxide have been measured in aqueous acidic solutions containing the two species. Temperature variation of these rates has been observed between 67.7°C and 82.3°C.
